Anonymous asked: Why do you think people are in such a craze over DavidsTea? I mean they have a great selection and all but I am unable to understand the hype. And as some background, I myself frequent the store often and have quite the selection at home, yet I don't squeal over new selections as some people I know do... Just wanted your input, thanks :)

I think David’s was one of the first to bring to the tea world something completely different than what we are used to when we talk about tea. It’s like having a wide variety of sweet liquids, but you can actually infuse it yourself. They made it fun. People are hooked up to a brand that makes things that are different that what you usually get on the market. Makes me think of Apple. People are so hyped about it because of the brand and the fact that it looks and feels different than other brands out there. And just like David’s, for the same price, you can get much better. It’s all a marketing hell :O

Anonymous asked: how many cup of tea do you drink per day?

The question should rather be how many types of tea I drink per day :D
I drink too many cups to be able to count them. However, I drink, on average, about 2 or 3 different types of tea per day.

erinthecreative asked: I'm not really sure if you're against flavoured teas or just artifically flavoured teas after your comment about them "not being tea perse". Because if that's the case then you should be drinking straight teas to begin with, which DavidsTea has a pretty good selection of. So, even though you're upset with them, you don't have to stop buying from there altogether to avoid flavourings.

I’m against all artificial things. Unfortunately, as I said, it’s hard to not ingest them since they’re everywhere! I love straight teas but I also enjoy blends with other herbs and fruits. I think you can make tea taste awesome without artificial flavoring. Take Earl Grey, for exemple, it’s black tea flavored with bergamot oil. It’s natural and probably the most drank tea in the world.
I will go back to DT to get their un-flavored mixes. It sucks tho that some teas I really loved have artificial flavoring and that makes me sad :<

verdantly asked: Sparked by your artificial flavors post. I've been a bit disappointed in DT lately. I got the falls sampler and most of the blends have no tea in them. It's all chunks of fruit and candies and marshmallows and whatever. Most of those things don't even add any flavor, just weight. I miss the tea. :( Heck, Banana Nut Bread is like pure flavor. Ugh.

Hello :D and thanks for liking my photos :3

Indeed, DT has been disappointing for some time. I’m not quite sure what they are trying to actually do with their teas… I also tried Banana Nut Bread and, besides the fact that it doesn’t taste like banana bread at all, it’s just a bunch of nuts and dried fruits. I’m sorry but, where is the TEA?

Here’s an answer to this message (it’s in a weird format, that’s why I decided to answer like such)

” I agree with you 100% about the artificial flavoring. I think it’s misleading and I feel like I don’t even know what I’m drinking, and that makes me sad. You should make your blog a general tea blog. So even the skinny had artificial flavoring? I just bought buttered rum and caramel spice for the sole reason that I thought i was avoiding the articial flavors. :(

Julie ”

Hello Julie!

Glad you agree with me :D
Yes, even The Skinny had, until now, because it seems on their website it sais only natural flavoring now. Well then…
The two teas you bought have only natural flavors (or at least for now that’s what we know). Natural flavors are ok, since it’s just fruit extracts. But then again, in some while maybe we’ll find out they are not :<

biscuitmunroe asked: so i kind of understand the artificial flavouring thing HOWEVER your're still getting all of the amazing things in the tea into your body as well as the artificial flavours. while if you strive to keep your body 100% pure that's awesome, but you really seem to know your stuff and it would be sad if you stopped this awesome blog. also, i think this is something that they are hearing from a lot of places and are striving to fix?

Hey!
For sure their teas are still better for your health that many of the other drinks out there. I like the idea they had, of making tea more fun, I just think they could do it without any flavoring.
I don’t think DT is really striving to fix anything. It didn’t seem like they are willing to listen to us people that complain ’bout this kind of things. But maybe I’m wrong, and SUDDENLY they will change. But I doubt that, they are too much of a big brand now, so that things like this matter… :<

Anonymous asked: I kind of think that you're over reacting. the responses that DT gave you were really honest, they have had some gaps in labelling and they are sorry you feel this way. They went from 0 stores to 110 in like four years. the brand literally went from a small mail order business to a giant thing with a huge following in four years. of course there are going to be gaps.

Hello, thanks for your answer :D
Gaps in the labeling are unacceptable especially in things you ingest. Imagine they “forget” to mention milk in some products that are supposed to be vegan. It won’t hurt anybody, but it’s going to bother people that are vegan. Or maybe somebody is lactose intolerant, and oops, too bad for them, the company didn’t have a team big enough to fill all those gaps.
How’d you know they have 110 stores? David’s Tea used to be a mail order business? It’s not written anywhere, at least not on their website. And we all know how well their website is written :D… Ah… you must work for them then.

Artificially sweetened lies

Hello ladies and gents. Most of you were probably wondering where I have been. That means you missed me, how sweet :D

Truth is, I’ve been here all along. Busy during some time, but here nevertheless. I did not write anything in a while because of personal conflicts with the worlds of the David’s Tea.

As probably most of you noticed, I have a thing against all them artificial things, especially flavoring. Now I know there are many laboratory prepared ingredients in most things we eat and drink, but I try my best to avoid them.
Point is, I got really hurt when I started seeing “artificial flavoring” on the DT’s labeling. I understand you might add it in some teas to make them taste like whatever you like. And I was pretty aware that they have used them in early teas, when they would add candy and powders and such. And then BAM, suddenly the started adding flavors to teas like The Skinny and Honeybee? But WHY? HOW? What is this?? So I asked them on their facebook page why are they adding flavors to old teas that were perfect the way they were. Well figure yourself that these teas have always HAD artificial flavoring. What now? So how come we never knew you ask. Well the reason they gave was, I quote:

“When we first opened up four years ago, there were a lot of missing details. Processes hadn’t been developed, our staff was small, and in the case of our teas, the ingredient lists weren’t even a part of our labeling (as you probably remember, our older labels only included descriptions)”

Fair enough. Sounds about right, no? Well, my opinion is they should have fixed those missing details BEFORE opening, not after. Anyway, let’s assume that they were “learning” their way through the marketing business (-__-). But then this came to me. Their website. It had the ingredients list. Teas were marked as organic and some had natural flavoring in the mix. As mentioned in many of my posts. Their FAQ page was explaining that their natural flavors are natural oils and such. No mention of ANY artificial business. Not in the FAQ and not in the ingredients list. Yet they told me they always had artificial flavor in some teas (that, of course, didn’t have candies or such). I’m sorry what now? So again, I asked how come they never mentioned the artificial flavors never before. You’ll never guess what they said, or maybe you will because you are a magical purple unicorn with frog eyes :O. I quote:

“If ever any ingredients weren’t included, it certainly wasn’t intentional.”

…

adfhszghdge

Are you kidding me? FOR REAL? Like…really? Seriously?

And that’s the whole story. The conversation ended there. I am reluctant to go there again. My collection is slowly getting smaller. I have lost all interest I ever had in DT. It’s a shame, it started out as such a nice place to go. Unfortunately, there are still some teas that I am addicted to, like The Skinny and Honeybee and some that help when I’m sick and such, and of course, the one who have no flavoring at all (or at least that’s what they tell us). So I will go get these teas, but with a broken heart. Because it’s now just a name and a brand and no longer a tea store. Their packaging is overpriced for nothing. I believe that teas are supposed to not have any flavors but their original taste, and be healthy. Adding flavors makes it no longer tea per se. Now it’s all juices. Dried artificial stuff you add hot water to and make JUICE.

I am sad and disappointed. I’m not sure what to do with this blog, whether to leave it as a DT blog or just make it a general tea blog like ALL THE OTHER ONES OUT THERE :O!

I’d like to hear from you and see if anybody shares my opinion or not, and why. :D

Here are the FB screenshots (with censoring and all for privacy), so you don’t think I dreamed of this or anything :>

xradarjam asked: Please update more tea and review :D I'm starting to miss your presence ♥

Hey! Yes, sorry, I haven’t been at David’s for quite some time, I was very unpleased with the whole artificial flavour thing, and their labeling and such. I asked some questions and they have been answered evasively. Anyway I will write a bigger post on that matter :>

Anonymous asked: I was browsing the David's Tea site, in hopes of ordering a few types of teas, but I would like to know your opinion on them before purchasing. The teas are: birthday cake, chocolate cake, ice cream cake and read my lips. I am going for a sweet taste, would you be able to recommend me any?

Hey! I wrote about the Cupcake teas here. I was a bit disappointed about the whole collection :<

As for the Read my lips, it’s a very good tea, or at least it was before they started adding artificial flavoring to everything D:<  It’s sweet and a bit spicy and great to make you feel warm and sexy :D

Other sweet teas that I enjoy are Daydreamer, Honeybee (if you like maté), Fantasy Island,  Swampwater (oh YUM), Alpine Punch and I can keep going :D
